CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Air Force women's basketball dropped its season-opener to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 65-46, Friday night at the Holiday Inn Islander Tip-off Classic at American Bank Center. Junior guard Raimee Beck led the Falcons with 21 points and eight rebounds.

The Islanders held a 23-19 halftime lead and then broke the game open in the second-half, outscoring the Falcons 27-42. Senior center Elisa Beagle led TAMUCC with 16 points. Guard Deziree Green notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jade Davis added 10 points and five assists.

Air Force was held to 31.8 percent shooting on the night and committed 25 turnovers. Freshman guard Alicia Leipprandt finished with 11 points in 14 minutes off the bench for the Falcons. Sophomore guard Anna Gault led the team with four assists as well.

The Falcons return to action tomorrow, taking on Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m CST. The Panthers lost to Alabama, 73-68, in the early game Friday.
