USAFA, Colo. - Hosting its in-state conference rival, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped an 87-49 contest to Colorado State Saturday afternoon in Clune Arena.
Junior Lindsey Lewis (Grapevine, Texas) led the Falcons with a career-high 15 points, while Cherae Medina (Sr., Denver, Colo.) and Jimi Blagowsky (Jr., Edmond, Okla.) added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Colorado State (13-4, 5-1) led from the start, shooting nearly 57 percent in the opening half to take a 41-25 lead at the intermission. The Rams, who remain tied for first place in the Mountain West standings, continued to pull away after the break, hitting seven of their 11 three-pointers in the second half. CSU also dominated on the boards, outrebounding Air Force 43-27 for the game.
Sam Martin was 7-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, to lead the Rams with 17 points. AJ Newton added 13 points, while Gritt Ryder and Caitlin Duffy scored 11 points each.
The Falcons (1-15, 0-6) are back on the road Wednesday, Jan. 18, when they visit Wyoming in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
