Falcon Wrestlers Continue to Grapple in Off-Season

    Although the official NCAA wrestling season ended in March, many Air Force wrestlers gained valuable experience by participating in post-season freestyle and Greco tournaments. Several current and former Academy wrestlers gained national recognition for their off-season efforts.
    All-American Kevin Hoy, a 2003 graduate, and Phil Johnston, a 2000 graduate, both placed fourth at the Olympic Trials. They each made it to the semifinals before falling.
    Brendan McLean, Jonathan Koch and Matt Crippes competed at the Fila Junior World tournament. McLean place third and will continue to wrestle in the summer, as he qualified for a summer tour.
    The trio was joined by Brandon Strong, Beau Tresemer and Josh Peterson at the University Nationals in both freestyle and Greco. Peterson and Tresemer both placed eigth to earn All-American honors. Tresemer also won the award for most falls in least amount of time. McLean placed seventh in Greco and eighth in freestyle. Crippes gained additional experience, going 4-4 at the Concord International Cup.
