Several Falcons Earn All-America Honors at University Nationals

    AKRON, Ohio - Led by rising senior Cole VonOhlen (Jackson, Minn.), the Air Force wrestling team had nine individuals reach All-America status at the 2012 University Nationals, held May 31-June 3.

    VonOhlen captured third place in the freestyle division in the 66 kg weight class, posting a 2-1, 9-2 win over Dean Pavlou.

    Meanwhile, the other eight Falcons all placed in the top eight in the Greco-Roman competition, led by rising senior Josh Mohr (Pewaukee, Wis.), who took fifth place at 96 kg. Mohr ended his weekend with a 2-0, 1-0 decision over Dominique Walker to place fifth.

    Greg Rinker (60 kg - Northampton, Pa.), Carter McElhany (66 kg - Colorado Springs, Colo.), Josh Kreimier (74 kg - Fort Collins, Colo.), Greg Isley (84 kg - Toledo, Ohio) and Jared Erickson (120 kg - Newton, Utah) all placed sixth in their respective weight classes, while Logan Burch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Daniel Baucke (Memphis, Tenn.) placed seventh at 66 kg and 74 kg, respectively.

    The top six finishers in each weight class automatically qualify for the University World Team Trials, which will be held Aug. 17-18 at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs. Winners at the trials will compete in the 2012 University World Championships held in Kuortane, Finland, Oct. 2-7.
