USAFA, Colo. - Rising senior Josh Kreimier has been tabbed the Air Force wrestling team captain for the 2013-14 season, as announced by head coach Joel Sharratt. Kreimier, a native of Fort Collins, Colo., was voted by his peers to serve as the team's leader for the upcoming season.
Kreimier, a three-year starter for the Falcons, is a two-time NCAA qualifier at 157 pounds and captured his first NCAA West Regional/Western Wrestling Conference title this season. He posted a career-best 28-6 overall record in 2012-13, sharing the team lead for most wins on the year. Kreimier holds a career record of 79-41 and is just the second Falcon in the past 10 years to post at least 20 victories in three separate seasons.
"I am confident that Josh will make a great team captain," said Sharratt. "As a wrestler, he has all the talent necessary to reach the highest levels of Division I wrestling. As a leader, his selection as team captain will afford him the opportunity to expand his Academy training to include leading his teammates, as well as the opportunity to influence training and planning decisions affecting our program."
