Air Force Wrestlers Head to FILA Junior Nationals

USAFA, Colo. - Nine Air Force wrestlers will be competing at the FILA Junior Freestyle Nationals, being held in Las Vegas, Nev., April 25-26. Session one begins Friday morning at 9:00, followed by session two at 3:00 p.m. Friday and the final session starting at 10:00 Saturday morning.
Competing for the Falcons this weekend will be sophomores Justin Shadrix and Samuel Sheppard, along with freshmen Neil Delaney, Derek Gillespie, Kazden Ikehara, Josh Larson, Joseph Stafford, Matthew Torrence and Andrew Zwirlein.
The FILA Junior Nationals include competition in 11 different weight classes, ranging from 50kg (approximately 110 pounds) to 120 kg (approximately 264 pounds). Plaques will be awarded to the top three place winners in each weight class, while medals will be presented to place winners 4-8 in each weight class.
Last season, six Falcons competed at the FILA Junior Nationals. Leading the way for Air Force in 2007 were current junior Stephen Crozier, who placed fourth in the Greco-Roman style and eighth in freestyle at 79 kg, and Sheppard, who took fifth place at 55kg in the Greco-Roman style.
