Dane Robbins Represents Air Force at NCAA Wrestling Championships

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS BRACKETS | NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS HOME | BROADCAST INFO AND WATCH LIVE 

THIS WEEKEND: Senior 149-pounder Dane Robbins will represent Air Force at the 2018 NCAA DI Championships, Mar. 15-17, at Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio.  Robbins is the 91st NCAA qualifier in program history.

A QUICK LOOK AT DANE: Robbins, a native of Fairfax, Virginia, led the 2017-18 Falcons with 19 overall wins, leading the dual meet squad with nine wins while picking up four Big 12 Conference dual meet wins.  Robbins placed second at the Cowboy Open (elite), second at the All-Academy Championship, and most recently, fifth at the Big 12 Championship. He has 50 career wins to his credit. In his debut match at 149, Robbins upended No. 13 Ronnie Perry (Lock Haven), 4-3, at the Southern Scuffle.  In the final coaches’ poll of the season, Robbins was ranked No. 28 in the nation.

MCLAUGHLIN AT THE TOP ALTERNATE POSITION: Junior 197-pounder Anthony McLaughlin has been selected as the top alternate in the 197 class.  McLaughlin, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, can potentially earn a slot in the NCAA tournament if any other 197-pounder happens to drop out prior to the tournament beginning.

2018 NCAA DI WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS FORMAT SCHEDULE:

THURSDAY, MARCH 15
Noon    
Session 1- Eight Mat Configuration
Pigtails and First-Round Competition

7 p.m.  
Session 2- Eight Mat Configuration
Preliminaries: Wrestle-Back Prelims (pigtail matches) as needed.
Wrestle-Back First Round.
Followed by Championship Round, Second Round and Consolation Round.

FRIDAY, MARCH 16
11 a.m.
Session 3- Eight Mat Configuration
Quarterfinals on middle four mats; Wrestle-Back Second and Third Rounds on outside mats.

8 p.m.  
Session 4- Six Mat "Dog Bone" Configuration
Semifinals on inside two mats (one weight at a time) and Wrestle-back fourth round on outside four mats.
Followed by Wrestle-Back fifth rounds on all six mats.

SATURDAY, MARCH 17
11 a.m.
Session 5- Three Mat Configuration
Wrestle-Back Semifinals on all three mats.
Followed by third, fifth and seventh place medal round matches.

8 p.m.  
Session 6- One Championship Mat
Championship weight class finals.
Individual weight class awards.
