Six Falcons Earn All-WWC Honors

OREM, Utah - Six Air Force wrestlers have been named to the 2011-12 Western Wrestling Conference all-conference team, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. Individuals earned their spots on the respective teams with their finish at the 2012 NCAA West Regional on March 4 at Northern Iowa.

Earning first-team all-conference honors for the Falcons was sophomore Cole VonOhlen, while junior Clayton Gable garnered second-team all-conference honors. In addition, Greg Rinker, Tyler Untrauer, Josh Kreimier and Josh Mohr were each named All-WWC third-team selections.

VonOhlen, earns the third all-conference honors of his career, and his second spot on the All-WWC first team after capturing the individual title at 149 pounds. A native of Jackson, Minn., VonOhlen holds a 35-2 overall record on the year and will be competing in this week's NCAA Championships as the third seed in the 149-pound bracket.

Gable, a native of Dallastown, Pa., earns the second all-conference honors of his career after receiving third-team honors as a sophomore. Gable claimed second place at 174 pounds at this year's West Regional and closed out the season with a 19-14 overall record.

Rinker, a sophomore from Northampton, Pa., was named an all-conference honoree for the first time in his career, finishing third at 125 pounds. Rinker compiled a 3-1 record at this year's West Regional to end the season with a 19-16 overall ledger, including 10 wins by fall.

Untrauer, the Falcons' third-place finisher at 133 pounds, also put together a 3-1 record at the regional to earn his first career all-conference honors. A senior from Midwest City, Okla., Untrauer concluded the season with an 11-13 overall record.



At 157 pounds, Kreimier earned the first all-conference accolades of his career, taking third place in his weight class with a 3-1 record. A sophomore from Fort Collins, Colo., Kreimier currently holds a 23-14 record on the season and will compete at the NCAA Championships later this week.

Finally, Mohr, a junior from Pewaukee, Wis., garnered all-conference accolades with his third-place regional finish at 197 pounds. Mohr, who posted a 3-1 record during the tournament, was one of four Falcons to reach the 20-win threshold for the year, ending the season with a 20-15 overall ledger.

Wyoming led the conference with seven all-conference selections, including a league-best four first-team honorees. Northern Iowa added three first-team selections, North Dakota State had two first-team honorees and Air Force had one spot on the first team. The Falcons' six all-league honorees tied with North Dakota State for second-most in the conference, while Northern Iowa garnered four all-conference selections.

The Western Wrestling Conference is comprised of seven schools including the Air Force Academy, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Utah Valley and Wyoming.
