The Air Force wrestling team wraps up its regular season dual slate this week, as it plays host to Western Wrestling Conference foe Northern Colorado. The match is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. in Clune Arena.
Last Time Out...
The Falcons picked up their second-straight WWC victory on Saturday, defeating Utah Valley State, 38-6. Sophomore Stephen Crozier picked up six team points for the Falcons, recording a fall at 174 pounds, while Jake Kriegbaum (141) and Anthony Stegeman (HWT) each registered technical falls to help lead Air Force to the win.
Scouting the Falcons...
Air Force currently holds a 5-10 overall mark and 2-1 record in the WWC. The Falcons have won their last three dual meets and hold an even 2-2 record at home.
Bridger Lord and Jake Kriegbaum, who each have nine dual victories on the season, are among the leaders for the Falcons.
Scouting the Bears...
Northern Colorado enters this week's matchup with a 5-9 overall record and 2-2 mark in the WWC. The Bears are coming off a pair of non-conference losses to Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton.
Leading Northern Colorado is sophomore Kenny Hashimoto (141), currently ranked 13th in the nation.
Senior Day...
The Falcons will celebrate Senior Day prior to the Northern Colorado match, as they say goodbye to seven seniors. In addition to captains Bridger and Zach Lord, the Falcons will honor Peter Bozynski, Matt Crippes, Chris Nissen and Andrew Teigeler.
Wyoming Match Cancelled...
Due to road closures caused by stormy weather last week, the Falcons were unable to get to Laramie for their scheduled match against Wyoming. The match was cancelled, with no plans to make up the competition date.
Up Next...
Air Force will have the next week and a half to rest up before heading to the NCAA West Regional in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on March 3. There the Falcons will compete for the opportunity to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships, to be held March 15-17 in Auburn Hills, Mich.
