Junior Beau Tresemer (Norman, Okla.) picked up the lone points for the Falcons as the Air Force wrestling team fell, 40-6, to 12th-ranked Northern Iowa Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Falcons drop to 5-6 in dual action, while the Panthers improve to 8-7 on the season.
Air Force started out with a pair of losses, as senior Josh Peterson (Comstock, Wis.) was pinned in the 149-lb. match by seventh-ranked Jeff Harrison with a second remaining in the first period before freshman Anthony Dorward (Seattle, Wash.) dropped a 10-1 major decision to Chris Bitetto at 157 pounds.
Tresemer then notched a fall over Josh Lawrenz, getting the pin in 48 seconds, his fastest of the season. With his 12th fall and 29th victory of the season, Tresemer brought the Falcons within four points at 10-6.
However, Air Force was unable to get any closer, first giving up a forfeit at 174 pounds. Senior Luke Lefever (La Crosse, Wis.) dropped an 8-6 decision to Alex Dolly at 184, Brenden McLean (Jr., Grants Pass, Ore.) lost an 18-5 major decision to fifth-ranked Sean Stender in the 197 bout and freshman Trey McLean (Grants Pass, Ore.) was on the losing end of a 2-0 decision against Jeff Knoll in the heavyweight match.
The Falcons also forfeited the 125-pound weight class, and the Panthers extended their lead to 35-6 with a 7-3 decision by Jeremy Meyer over Matt McDiarmid (Fr., Strongsville, Ohio) at 133 pounds. The meet ended at 141 pounds, where C.J. Ettelson registered a tech fall against Air Force's Matt Crippes (So., Cloverdale, Calif.).
Air Force returns home for the final dual meet of the season, as it plays host to Wyoming on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The Falcons will say goodbye to their three senior captains, who will compete for the final time at home. The meet is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Cadet East Gym.
