Wrestling Team Defeats Portland State, Falls to Fresno State
USAF, Colo. -- The Air Force wrestling team split its final two dual meets of the season, defeating Portland State, 34-6, and falling to Fresno State, 25-9.
The Falcons opened the day with a 28-point victory over the Vikings, winning eight of 10 individual matches. Kevin Hoy (Hwt) and Ryan Montanez (141 lbs.) each notched falls as the Falcons dominated the meet.
Against the nationally-ranked Bulldogs, the Falcons struggled, winning just three matches. Andy Peters (133 lbs.) and Alex Pelbath (165 lbs.) each secured 3-2 victories over their opponents. Terry Parham also notched a solid victory at the 174-pound weight class.
Air Force finished he season with a 7-2 dual meet record. They will head to Laramie, Wyo., on Saturday, March 10, for the Western Regionals. The Falcons will square off against four other teams, competing for 20 spots at the NCAA Championships.
