Air Force Wrestlers Defeat Wyoming in Dual Meet

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, CO- The Air Force wrestling team won its sixth dual meet of the season, defeating the Wyoming Cowboys, 19-16, Saturday, Feb. 10.

Air Force fell behind early, losing the first two matches of the meet. Team co-captain C1C (senior) Alex Pelbath (165 lbs.), C2C (junior) Terry Parham (174 lbs.) and C3C (sophomore) Samuel Sherertz (184 lbs.) brought the team back around with three consecutive wins for the Falcons. Parham also had the team's only fall, pinning Wyoming's Steven Shenk in the fourth match of the afternoon. C4C (freshman) Heath McKim had a decisive win in the 125-weight class over Reynold Candelaria, helping to keep the Falcons in the lead. The Cowboys won five of the 10 matches, winning the final two, but were still unable to pull out far enough to grab the win.

Interesting Notes:

Heath McKim wrestled a solid match and seems to be coming into his own during the latter half of the season.

Terry Parham came away with a pin against a solid opponent. This win

should help him in the seedings for the West Region tournament.

Alex Pelbath won in sudden death overtime.

Kevin Hoy won for the second straight time against Steele who he lost to at the beginning of the season.
