Falcons Back In Action With Three Dual Meets

    The Air Force wrestling team is back in action this week, with three dual meets, starting with a pair of home matches against North Dakota State and Adams State on Saturday. The Falcons will then travel to Greeley, Colo., to face Portland State on a neutral mat. Meanwhile, another group of Air Force wrestlers will take part in the Borah Duals, hosted by Western State.

    Scouting the Falcons...
    Air Force holds a 2-8 dual record this season, with wins over Colorado School of Mines and Brown. Leading the way for the Falcons is junior Jake Kriegbaum (141), with a 6-4 dual record, while senior Bridger Lord (149) has a 5-3 dual mark.

    Last Time Out...
    The Falcons competed in four dual meets last weekend, traveling to Pittsburgh before taking part in the Wendy's Duals, hosted by Ashland University. Senior Bridger Lord and junior Jake Kriegbaum each notched three wins on the weekend to lead the Falcons, Jacob Devlin added two victories and Stephen Crozier and Zach Valdez each added a win for Air Force.

    Scouting the Bison...
    North Dakota State currently holds a 4-2 dual record and 1-0 mark in the Western Wrestling Conference and will visit Wyoming before facing the Falcons on Saturday.

    Among the leaders for the Bison are Eric Hoffman and Gabe Mooney with 12 wins each, while Eric Sanders and Adams Aho have each notched 11 wins on the season.

    Scouting the Grizzlies...
    Adams State, ranked sixth at the Division II level, enters this weekend with a 4-1 overall record, its lone loss coming to then-top-ranked Central Oklahoma.

    The Grizzlies have four nationally ranked wrestlers, led by top-ranked Casey Woodall (197). Other ranked competitors for Adams State are Arsenia Barksdale (4th, 125), Mike Gallegos (5th, 157) and Jared Deaguero (5th, 184).

    Scouting the Vikings...
    Portland State currently holds a 1-7 record and will face South Dakota State, Boise State and Northern Colorado before meeting Air Force on Sunday evening.

    Leading the Vikings is junior Dale Seley, who enters the weekend with a 16-7 overall record.

    At The Borah Duals...
    The Falcons are slated to compete in four dual meets at the Borah Duals this weekend. Air Force will face off against Colorado School of Mines, New Mexico Highlands, Utah Valley State and Pima College.

    The Falcons' probable lineup for this week's dual matches follows: 125: Zach Valdez or Samuel Sheppard; 133: Stephen Makuka; 141: Jake Kriegbaum; 149: Bridger Lord; 157: Tony Dorward or Zach Lord; 165: Duane Miller; 174: Stephen Crozier; 184: Jacob Devlin; 197: Jordan Tribble; HWT: Anthony Stegeman

    Meanwhile, expected to compete at the Borah Duals are Kurt Spranger (133), Juancarlos Pino (141), Chris Szabolcs (149), Andrew Teigeler (149), Joshua Lopez (157), Felix Abeyta (165), Justin Shadrix (165), Tyler French (174), AJ Harris (174/184), Casey Butikofer (197) Peter Bozynski (197) and Steve Larson (HWT).

    Up Next...
    The Falcons host the annual All-Academy Championships, sponsored by USAA, next weekend, Feb. 3. Along with Air Force, teams from Army, Navy, the Merchant Marines, the Coast Guard Academy, The Citadel, Norwich and VMI will compete.
