Air Force Finishes First Day At Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational

Primm, Nev. - Junior Jake Kriegbaum (Abilene, Kan.) led the Air Force wrestling team on day one of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, compiling a 2-2 record at the prestigious tournament.
Kriegbaum opened the day with a 6-0 decision over Brown's Steve Delorenzo, moving into the round of 16. Kriegbaum then suffered a 6-1 defeat against Kyle Larson of Oregon State, but came back to register a 13-1 decision over Pittsburgh's Joe Ciampoli. In his final bout of the weekend, Kriegbaum was knocked by by Stanford's Rafael Chavez, falling in a time of 2:39.
Other Falcons picking up victories on day one of the Las Vegas Invitational were senior captains Bridger and Zach Lord (Missoula, Mont.). Bridger, wrestling at 149 pounds, picked up a 6-4 decision over Ali Lockett of San Francisco State in the pigtails, before dropping a 17-6 major decision to Wisconsin's Tyler Turner. His weekend ending in the first wrestlebacks, where he lost by default to Ryan Needle of Buffalo.
Meanwhile, Zach began the day with a 10-6 loss to Penn's Matt Dragon in the round of 32, but rebounded by pinning Cal State Fullerton's Bobbie Musser in a time of 1:55 in the wrestlebacks. His day also ended with a second loss, dropping the 12-8 decision to Drake Hovis of Cornell.
The Falcons will wrap up action Saturday as another group of wrestlers takes part in the FHSU-Bob Smith Open in Hays, Kan.
