Falcons Wrap Up Action At Wendy's Duals

Ashland, Ohio - Taking part in the 18th annual Wendy's Big Classic Duals, hosted by Ashland University, the Air Force wrestling team went 0-3 on the day, falling to Cleveland State, host Ashland and Kent State. The Falcons fall to 2-8 overall on the season.

Jake Kriegbaum (Jr., Abilene, Kan.), Stephen Crozier (So., Monona, Iowa) and Jacob Devlin (Jr., Livingston, N.J.) each picked up victories for the Falcons against Cleveland State. Kriegbaum registered a 1-0 decision over Antonio Nicholson at 141 pounds, while Crozier notched a 13-3 major decision over Nate Kmetz at 174. Devlin grabbed the last win for Air Force, recording a 10-5 decision over David Gilkey at 184 pounds, as the Falcons dropped the 23-10 contest.

The Falcons started out against Ashland with victories in three of the first four bouts, beginning with Zach Valdez (Jr., Parker, Colo.) who notched a 4-0 decision over Ryan Belcher at 125 pounds. Kriegbaum recorded his second victory of the day with a 2-0 decision over Tony Iovine, while Bridger Lord (Sr., Missoula, Mont.) defeated Marcus Gordon at 149 pounds with a 4-3 decision. However, Air Force was unable to pick up another win in the match, falling 24-9.

In the last match of the day, the Falcons were only able to pick up one victory against 21st-ranked Kent State, as Lord notched a 16-8 major decision over Patrick Lanham. Air Force finished the contest with a 33-4 defeat against the Flashes.

The Falcons are back in action next weekend, Jan. 27-28, hosting conference foe North Dakota State and Adams State, while heading to Greeley, Colo., to face Portland State in a neutral gym.
