Air Force Wraps Up Competition at Borah Duals

GUNNISON, Colo. - The Air Force wrestling team sent a group of competitors to the 23rd-annual Tracy Borah Duals, hosted by Western State Colorado, on Saturday, facing the host Mountaineers, CSU-Pueblo, Colorado Mesa and Western Wyoming.
Against the WSCU, freshman Tyler Mergen (Monticello, Minn.) was the lone Falcon to come away with a win, earning a 10-0 major decision against Austin Harris at 165 pounds. Junior Chris Morales (Rio Rancho, N.M.) was Air Force's top scorer versus CSU-Pueblo, winning by injury default at 174 pounds, while Evan Gros (Jr., Lake Orion, Mich.) and Cody Davis (Jr., The Woodlands, Texas) won decisions at 197 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Freshman Willie Baker (Jackson, Minn.) led four Air Force victors in the dual versus Colorado Mesa, with a fall against Dylan Granard. Morales and heavyweight Marcus Malecek (Fr., Hammond, Wis.) each scored decisions, while Gros was awarded a forfeit victory. In the final dual of the day, freshman Adam Jackson (Rosemount, Minn.) led the way for Air Force, pinning Dillon Karajanis in the 149-pound bout, while Davis won his second decision of the day. Also scoring points for the Falcons were Vance Hawk (Jr., Ridgway, Colo.) and Greg Isley (Jr., Toledo, Ohio) earned forfeit victories.
Air Force's varsity team will be back in action on Sunday, as it hosts Northern Iowa and New Mexico Highlands in back-to-back duals. Competition is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. in Clune Arena.
