U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Three Falcons earned Western Water Polo Association honors, as announced today by the league office.
Sophomore Riley Thomas was a first-team all-WWPA selection. He led the Falcons with 39 goals and was second with 21 assists and 40 steals. Thomas ranks 10th in the league in steals and 18th in goals. Junior Eric Curia earned honorable mention honors as he was third on the team with 36 goals, third with 26 steals and fifth with 13 assists. Edward Smet was named to the WWPA all-freshman team as he scored 15 goals, had 10 assists and added six steals.
Air Force will host the 2015 WWPA Tournament, Friday-Sunday, Nov. 20-22, at the Academy’s Cadet Natatorium. UC Davis is the No. 1 seed and will receive a bye in the first round. Friday’s matchups include: No. 2 Loyola Marymount vs. No. 7 Cal Baptist at 1:30 pm; No. 3 UC San Diego vs. No. 6 Santa Clara, 3:15 pm; and No. 4 Fresno Pacific vs. No. 5 Air Force, 5:00 pm. Saturday’s lineup includes games at 11:30 am, 1:15 pm and 3:00 pm. On Sunday, the fifth-place game is at 9:30 am, the third-place game at 11:15 am and the championship game will be at 1:00 pm.
