U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Three Falcons were honored by the Western Water Polo Association for their performance throughout the 2016 season.
Junior Riley Thomas earned first team honors for the second straight year as he is second in the WWPA in points (94), third in goals (63) and fourth in steals (43). Thomas scored a goal in 23 of the 24 games this season and scored three or more goals in a game 11 times, including a career high eight against conference rival Cal Baptist, Nov. 4.
Senior Eric Curia earned all-WWPA honorable mention honors for the second straight year. Curia was third on the team with 30 goals and 40 points. He was fifth on the team with 23 steals.
Luke Andres was named to the WWPA all-freshman team. He played in all 24 games and was Air Force’s top freshman scorer with 27 points. Among all Falcons, he was seventh on the team in points, sixth in goals (12) and fourth in assists (15).
Air Force (9-15 overall and 1-5 WWPA) travels to Santa Clara, Calif., for the annual Western Water Polo Association Tournament, Nov. 18-20. In the first game, sixth-seeded Air Force will face third-seeded Loyola Marymount on Friday, Nov. 18, at 12:15 pm PT.
