This Week: Off
Last Week: Vs. Loyola Marymount (A) Air Force water polo closed its season with a disappointing weekend, falling to Loyola Marymount, 12-6, Santa Clara, 9-6, and Cal Baptist, 11-5, this weekend in competition at Loyola Marymount. Vs. Loyola Marymount: The 16th ranked Falcons went into their Saturday match up against Loyola Marymount having already defeated the Lions, 9-8, in competition earlier this season at the Triton Tournament hosted by UC San Diego. The Lions held onto an early lead, finding themselves with a 4-3 lead at the end of the first half. Three unanswered goals by Loyola Marymount during the third period clenched the 9-6 win for the Lions over Air Force. Falcon goals were as follows: C1C Wade Grabow (2), C1C Derek Argel, C4C Scott Butler, C1C Brent Reimer, C1C Chad Simendinger. Vs. Santa Clara: This was the only meeting of the season for Air Force and Santa Clara. The Falcons were victorious both times they faced the Broncos in competition last season, defeating them 11-10 and 13-8. This season Santa Clara was able to hold off the Falcons, winning the match, 9-6, and forcing the Falcons into their second loss of the weekend. Vs. Cal Baptist: In the Falcons' final match up of the weekend, Air Force fell to the Lancers of California Baptist, 11-5. The Falcons went into the match with a 2-1 record against the Lancers, having defeated them twice, 9-6 and 8-7, in competition at the Air Force Invitational and losing to Cal Baptist, 6-5, at the Northern California Tournament.
Upcoming: The Falcons have already guaranteed themselves a spot at the Western Water Polo Association Championships in Honolulu, HI, which is being held November 17-19. The winner of the WWPA Championships will be going to the NCAA Championships in Malibu, CA, held Dec 2-3.
