Falcons Open Home Tournament With Wins

    The Air Force water polo team dropped opponents George Washington University, 12-6, and Chapman, 17-4, in the first day of the "East Meets West" water polo tournament in the Cadet Gymnasium's Natatorium Saturday, Oct. 25.     U.S.A.F.A., Colo.- The Air Force water polo team dropped opponents George Washington University, 12-6, and Chapman, 17-4, in the first day of the "East Meets West" water polo tournament in the Cadet Gymnasium's Natatorium Saturday, Oct. 25. The Falcons played in the second and final games of the day to secure the wins before they continue onto Sunday's matches.

    The Falcons opened against George Washington with four goals in the first period. Air Force ended the half ahead 7-3 before coming back to outscore the Colonials, 3-1 in the third. Senior Scott Butler and junior Josh Jewett led the Falcons offense with four goals each, followed by junior Murphey Morgan with two and senior Mitch Adams and junior Brian Woolley with one each.

    Air Force completely dominated Chapman in the final game of the evening, outscoring the Panthers 11-0 in the first half. Chapman scored in the third period and netted three in the fourth to outscore Air Force 3-1 in the final period. 10 Falcons found the net against the Panthers, with goals freshman Brian McShane who had five, followed by Butler with three, and senior Eric Baber with two. Juniors Josh Jewett, Chris Nary, Eric Swenson, and Brian Woolley and newcomers Danny Kimmich, Matt LeBlanc and Kyle Schafer each scored one.

    The Falcons return to action Sunday morning to face off against Iona College at 9:15. Sunday's first game begins at 8 a.m. when Chapman takes on George Washington. Air Force competes in the final game of the tournament at 3 p.m. when the Falcons face Cal Baptist.
