Former Falcon Selected for Pan American Games

    USAFA, Colo. - Former Air Force water polo Danny Kimmich has been named to the 2011 U.S. Pan American Team as a member of the men's team handball squad. The team will compete in the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Oct. 14-30.

    Held every four years in the year before the Olympic Games, the Pan American Games are the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. The Pan American Games will serve as an Olympic qualifier for several sports, including team handball.

    Kimmich, a 2007 Academy graduate, was a four-year letterwinner on the Falcons' water polo team and served as team captain in his senior season. The four-time AWPCA All-Academic team honoree got his start in team handball following the completion of his water polo career and has trained as a member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program.
