Air Force beats Navy for second straight year
For the second straight year, the Air Force water polo team defeated Navy with an 8-6 win in the Rodeo Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 23, in Saratoga, Calif. After 10 straight losses to the Mids from 2000-2014, the Falcons have now won two straight.

THIS WEEK: Air Force (2-9, 0-1 WWPA) travels to Claremont, Calif., for three non-conference games in the Gary Troyer Tournament. The Falcons face Navy (6-9 overall) and Pomona-Pitzer College on Friday, Oct. 6. The Navy game starts at 10:30 am PT while the Pomona game starts at 7:15 pm PT. The Falcons then play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11:45 am PT.  
FALCONS VS. MIDS: Air Force has won two straight over Navy, 8-6 last season and 17-11 in 2015. Both were played in tournaments in California. Air Force and Navy have played 30 times and the Mids hold a 21-9 lead in the series that began in 1980. 
SERIES RECORDS: Air Force has played Pomona-Pitzer 27 times and the Falcons hold a 24-3 lead in the series that began in 1991.  Last season, Air Force defeated PPC, 9-7. The Falcons have played Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 41 times and hold a   35-6 lead in the all-time series. Last season, Air Force defeated CMS, 9-5
MOST RECENTLY: No. 10 UC Davis used a strong start to defeat No. 19 Air Force, 24-13, in a WWPA game, Sept. 30, at the Academy’s Cadet Natatorium. UCD had a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Air Force rallied in the second with three straight goals, two by Riley Thomas and one by Harrison to cut the Aggie lead to 8-6. UCD then scored four of the next five goals and held a 12-7 lead at the half. The Aggies led 17-9 at the end of three quarters. Riley Thomas scored seven goals, the second most of his career. He scored eight against Cal Baptist last season. Harrison added three goals for the Falcons. Luke Andres had three assists while Miller and Thomas each had two. Freshman James Burke had eight saves and two steals for Air Force.
STAT LEADERS:  Despite missing two games early in the season, senior Riley Thomas leads the team with 17 goals and 24 points. Senior Garrett Fisk is second with 15 goals and 22 points. Sophomore Luke Andres leads the team with nine assists. Fisk leads the team with 12 steals. 
 
THOMAS NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Senior Riley Thomas was named the WWPA Player of the Week after scoring seven goals against UC Davis, Sept. 30.
