Air Force Water Polo Announces 2010 Schedule
May 11, 2010 USAFA, Colo. - With the Falcons completing their off-season training, the 2010 Air Force water polo schedule has been released by head coach Jeff Ehrlich. Among the highlights for the season are five West Coast tournaments, along with a pair of home contests versus conference foe Chapman. The Falcons open the season Sept. 4-5 at the annual Triton Invitational, hosted by WWPA rival UC San Diego. Air Force's only home varsity games of the season will come on Sept. 11 and 12, as the Falcons host Chapman in the Water Polo Pool. Air Force travels to Berkeley, Calif., for the NorCal Tournament, Sept. 18-19, while the "B" team will host the CWPA Tournament Sept. 24-25. The Falcons' varsity squad returns to action Oct. 8-9 for the Claremont Convergent Tournament, hosted by WWPA rivals Claremont and Pomona. On Oct. 16, the Falcons will visit conference rival Loyola Marymount before competing in the Concordia Tournament in Irvine, Calif., Oct. 16-17. Meanwhile, Air Force will head to Santa Clara's home tournament Oct. 23-24, before wrapping up the regular season Nov. 6-7 with games against Cal Baptist, Concordia, La Verne and Claremont. The 2010 WWPA Tournament, hosted this year by Santa Clara, is scheduled for Nov. 19-21. The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which will take place Dec. 4-5. "This was the most enjoyable spring season ever, and the improvement with the team, especially the freshmen, was amazing," said Ehrlich. "We are all looking forward to an exciting 2010 season." The Falcons will return 17 letterwinners from the 2009 team which finished the season ranked 17th in the nation with an 18-14 overall record.
