Falcons Win Rocky Mt. Tourney

    The Falcons came back from the nine-team Rocky Mountain Water Polo Tournament at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a perfect 5-0 record.

    Club Master teams from Colorado, Texas, California, Utah, and New Mexico competed in this weekend tourney. This is the second year in a row the Air Force team has come back with the championship. Many of the players the Falcons competed against were from some of the top schools in the nation which gave Air Force some much need competition.

    C3C Brandon Shroyer was the team MVP in the goal with 52 saves (a 60 percent save percentage) . He also contributed to the championship with 21 steals and 6 assists.

    Top field players were C4C Josh Shadrick, C3C Micah Peterson, and C2C Captain Chris Smith. Top scorers were: Chris Smith (13), Josh Shadrick (12), Kirk Reimer (11), Chas Horn and Micah Peterson with (9).

    In the assist category Chris Smith led the way with 12. Steal leaders were: C3C Eric Baber with 22, C3C Micah Peterson with 20 and Josh Shadrick with 16.

    The Air Force "B" team had a record of 4-1 only losing to the "A" team 12-7. C3C Scott Butler led way with 27 goals. Butler is a two-year varsity player and was an All-Conference pick for the 2001 season. Other players on the "B" team to make an impact were: goalie Kelly Greiner and field players: Mitch Adams, Vincent Urso, Josh Jewett, Matt Herrera and Murphey Morgan.

    Statistically, Kelly Greiner and Jared Jones had 38 and 22 saves, respectively. Scorers were: Scott Butler (27), Vincent Urso (12), and Murphey Morgan with (8). The top assist players were: Murphey Morgan (11), Josh Jewett (10), and Mitch Adams with (7). Having the most steals was Mitch Adams with 19, followed by Murphey Morgan (16), Jared Jones (13), Kelly Greiner (12), and Josh Jewett with (10).

    In two weeks (May 3-5) Air Force will host the Spring Tournament and this weekend will be highlighted by the return of the Alumni.. ( Winner of the last two Spring Air Force tournaments).
