USAFA, Colo. - Air Force senior water polo player Danny Harold has been named a 2011 All-Academic selection by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC), as announced by the organization last week.
Varsity water polo athletes in any division (NCAA I, II, III or NAIA) with at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA are eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic team. Three different categories are awarded, based on GPA--Outstanding (3.71-4.00), Superior (3.41-3.70) and Excellent (3.20-3.40).
Harold, a native of Newport Beach, Calif., earns All-Academic accolades for the fourth-straight year, becoming the fifth four-time all-academic honoree in program history. The Falcons' team captain in 2011, Harold holds a 3.40 GPA in electrical engineering. As Air Force's starting goalkeeper, Harold registered 205 saves over the season and was named a second-team all-tournament selection at the 2011 Western Water Polo Association Championship.
Since 1994, Air Force has had 23 different players earn a total of 51 ACWPC All-Academic honors.
