Air Force Water Polo Team Visits Local Elementary School
Feb. 26, 2010 USAFA, Colo. - On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Air Force water polo team participated in an annual community service trip to a local elementary school. This year, the Falcons visited Monroe Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colo., to work with 30 grade-school children. "It is great to see how the elementary kids love the players and listen to every word they say," said Air Force head coach Jeff Ehrlich. "Our water polo players are great role models." The members of the team took time to teach the children about the sport of water polo before letting each student put on a cap and try to score a goal against sophomore goalkeeper Danny Harold. Later, the cadets and students broke into groups to play games. "It's always good to give back to the community," said rising team captain Bobby Geiger. "Getting to spend time with these children was a treat for every player on the team, and the enthusiasm was reciprocated from the kids. Who know? Maybe we recruited some future Air Force water polo players in the process."
