New Water Polo Assistant Head Coach Craig Ackley
Air Force's new water polo assistant head coach, Craig E. Ackley, comes to Air Force after a five-year stay as water polo head coach at Palo Alto High School. Ackley was also head coach of the Stanford University 18 and under water polo summer program.
Ackley owns an overall record of 126-29. His coaching achievements while at Palo Alto H.S. include winning the Central Coast Section Championship in 1993 and '97, placing second in the CCS in 96. While at Stanford, he led his team to a second-place finish at the Junior Olympics in 96 and 98. Ackley is a graduate of the University of the Pacific where he was a four-year water polo letterman. Individual honors earned by Ackley include All-American and all-conference his junior and senior years. Ackley attended Villa Park H.S. with current Air Force water polo head coach Jeff Ehrlich as his head coach. Ackley was captain of the water polo team for two years as well as a three-year letterman in water polo (2-meter) and swimming. Ackley earned All-American honors both his junior and senior years. He is also second in all-time leading assists and was the league MVP his senior year as well as first-team All-California Interscholastic Federation his junior and senior years.
Ackley grew up in the city of Orange, CA, and currently lives in Denver, Colo. with his wife Megan.
