Jan. 17, 2018

Former Air Force Academy athlete Dominic Vicino, a 2015 USAFA graduate, received the Airman's Medal for risking his life to save others at Miramar Beach, Fla. Vicino is a first lieutenant stationed at Eglin AFB, Fla., as a weapon tactics officer.

Vicino played four years of water polo and one year of baseball at the Academy. In water polo, he was the team's captain in 2014 while earning both all-conference and academic all-conference honors. He was second on the team in scoring as a junior and fourth as a senior.

Vicino credits his strong swimming skills to his years of playing water polo and to his water survival training at the Academy.
