No. 16 Air Force Splits Pair of WWPA Contests

    Los Angeles, Calif. - In its final weekend of the regular season, the 16th-ranked Air Force water polo team went 1-1 on Saturday, falling to 12th-ranked Loyola Marymount, 11-4, while downing Chapman, 19-5. The Falcons move to 11-13 overall on the season, with a 4-5 mark in the Western Water Polo Association.

    In the first game of the day, Loyola Marymount got out to a 3-1 lead after one period and held a commanding 7-1 advantage at the half en route to the 11-4 victory. The Falcons received one goal each from Clark Condict (Sr., Irvine, Calif.), Tyler Hewko (Jr., Laguna Hills, Calif.), Jack Hines (So., Riverside, Calif.) and Alex Churnside (So., Orange, Calif.).

    The tables were turned in the next game for Air Force, as it got out to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter and 9-1 advantage at intermission. Scoring five goals in each of the last three periods, the Falcons rolled to a 19-6 victory over Chapman. Churnside and freshman Bobby Geiger (Fr., Buellton, Calif.) each talled three goals to lead Air Force in the win. Condict, Hewko, Hines, Matt Versage (Fr., Merced, Calif.) and Miles McMullan (Jr., Irvine, Calif.) notched two goals each, while Kurt Wallin (Fr., Temecula, Calif.), Jason Fung (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) and Chris Pace (Sr., Santa Ynez) added the final scores for the Falcons.

    The Falcons wrap up the regular season tomorrow, Nov. 4 with road conference games at La Verne and Claremont.
