U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – UC San Diego scored four goals in each quarter for a 16-6 win over Air Force in a Western Water Polo Association game, Friday, Oct. 20, in San Diego, Calif.
Falcon Luke Andres scored the game’s first goal on the power play and then Garrett Fisk scored on the power play for a 2-1 Falcon lead early in the first quarter. However, UCSD scored six unanswered goals and had an 8-3 at the half.
In the second half, the Tritons outscored the Falcons 4-1 in the third and 4-2 in the fourth. Air Force had goals from Justin Harrison, Riley Thomas and Edward Smet, his second of the game, in the second half.
UCSD outshot Air Force, 36-29 in the game. Each team scored four power-play goals in the game. Smet led the Falcons with two goals. Jack Empey led the team with two assists. James Burke made seven saves.
Air Force (5-11 overall and 1-2 in the WWPA) will face Concordia in a conference game on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1:30 p.m.
