Air Force Falls to Third-Ranked UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. - Playing in a non-conference road game, the Air Force water polo team dropped a 12-3 decision to third-ranked UC Irvine Sunday afternoon at Anteater Pool. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 5-10 overall on the season, while the Anteaters improve to 12-3 on the year. UC Irvine dominated offensively, taking a 3-0 advantage after one period, while leading 7-1 at the half. The Anteaters were credited with 25 shots in goal during the contest, compared to 14 for the Falcons. Senior captain Bobby Geiger (Buellton, Calif.) continued to lead the Air Force offense, scoring all three of the Falcons' goals against the Anteaters. Geiger, who scored 10 goals and two assists on the weekend, now ranks tied for eighth in career scoring at the Academy with 242 points. Tallying an assist against UC Irvine was Kurt Wallin (Sr., Temecula, Calif.), while goalkeeper Danny Harold (Jr., Corona Del Mar, Calif.) was credited with 13 stops in the contest. The Falcons return to action next weekend, Oct. 16, when they visit Loyola Marymount in a WWPA contest.
