No. 16 Air Force Concludes Opening Day at Aggie Shootout

Davis, Calif. - The 16th-ranked Air Force water polo split a pair of games Saturday at the Aggie Shootout, hosted by UC Davis. The Falcons dropped an 11-2 contest to No. 2 Cal in the first game of the day before rebounding with a 12-4 victory over Harvard. Air Force now stands at 7-10 on the season. After trailing 2-0 against Cal, the Falcons cut their deficit to one goal with a man-up goal from senior Clark Condict (Irvine, Calif.) with 1:23 remaining in the second period. However, the Bears notched another score less than 30 seconds later to take a 3-1 lead at the half. Air Force never got any closer, as Cal scored seven straight in the second half before cruising .to the 11-2 victory. In addition to Condict's first half goal, senior Justin Berry (Windermere, Fla.) added a score for the Falcons. In its second game of the day, Air Force trailed early against Harvard, down 2-0 in the opening period. However, the Falcons scored a pair of goals in the final two minutes of the quarter to start a 6-0 run. Air Force, led by three scores from Berry and Alex Churnside (So., Orange, Calif.), held the Crimson to two second-half goals en route to the 12-4 win. Also scoring for the Falcons in the contest were Condict and Kevin Williams (Jr., River Forest, Ill.) with two goals each, while Tyler Hewko (Jr., Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Jason Fung (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) added the final scores. The Falcons wrap up the weekend tomorrow morning when they face UC Davis in a 10:00 contest.
