STANFORD, Calif. - Unable to counter a strong offensive attack by the home team, the 20th-ranked Air Force water polo fell to third-ranked Stanford, 14-2, Friday evening at Avery Aquatic Center. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 2-3 on the season, while the Cardinal improves to 6-0 overall.

Stanford dominated from the outset, rolling to a 5-0 advantage after one period. Increasing its lead to 7-0 at intermission, the Cardinal held a 11-0 edge before the Falcons got on board at the 2:28 mark in the third quarter with a score from junior Jack Hines (Riverside, Calif.). Stanford scored the first goal of the final period, followed by Hines' second tally of the game, but the Cardinal notched two more scores to end the contest.

Splitting time in goal for Air Force were junior David Ostrom (Mission Viejo, Calif.), who tallied four saves, and freshman Danny Harold (Corona Del Mar, Calif.), who registered three saves.

Leading the Cardinal offense was Sage Wright with three goals, while four other players added two goals each.

The Falcons are back in action tomorrow at the NorCal Tournament, hosted by Pacific. Air Force will take on second-ranked USC in the first game of the tournament, slated to begin at 8:00 a.m.
