Falcons Compete at ITA Mountain Regionals This Week

    More than 100 men's collegiate tennis players, including seven from the Air Force Academy, will compete this week (Oct. 17-21) at the 2012 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships to be held at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Senior Lance Wilhelm, juniors Alex Grubbs, Andy Jackson, Alex Lineberry, Ali Rizvi and Steven Young and sophomore Grant Taylor will represent the Academy at the tournament.

    Wilhelm is seeded sixth in the singles competition, while Wilhelm and Taylor form the fourth-seeded doubles team.

    This will be one of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these middle two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions from the regionals will advance to the 2012 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 8-11, at the indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
