Shannon Buck set to play at Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships

    Air Force sophomore Shannon Buck plays his first match at the 2003 Icy Hot/ITA Men's Tennis All-America Championships on Thursday, Oct. 8 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Buck will face the eighth-seed, Jesse Witten of Kentucky, in the round of 64 beginning at 7 a.m. (MT).

    Buck, who is ranked No. 45 in this year's national preseason rankings, is 4-0 this fall, including a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 37 Mark Dietrich of Tennessee. Witten, who advanced to the round of 32 at last year's NCAA Singles Championships, is ranked No. 9 in the country.

    The winner of the match will face the winner of the Thomas Schoeck (Boise State) - Michael Calkins (Illinois) match at 10 a.m. (MT). The losers of the two matches will play each other in the consolation bracket, also at 10 a.m. (MT).

    The rest of the Air Force team, led by juniorTyler McClung and sophomore Trevor Johnson, will compete at the Balloon Fiesta Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The three-day tournament, hosted by the University of New Mexico, begins Friday, Oct. 10.
