    The Air Force men's tennis team opens its 2007-08 season this weekend at the 2007 UNM Balloon Fiesta Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Nine Falcons will make the trip south on I-25 for the tournament, which runs from Friday, Oct. 5 - Sunday, Oct. 7.

    Sophomore Brett Rodgers, who played the majority of last season at No. 2 singles, leads the way for the Falcons this fall. He received a bye in the first round of the "A" singles flight and will play his first match on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Joining Rodgers in the top singles flight are sophomores James Tomlin and Austin Francis and freshmen Taylor Soster and Johnny Buckingham.

    In the "B" singles flight, sophomore Mike Gies received a bye into the second round. Senior Greg Ferry, junior Kyle Epperson and freshman Alex Beaussart are also in the "B" flight.

     

     

    In doubles action, Francis and Tomlin received a first-round bye and will play at 4 p.m. on Friday. Rodgers and Soster will play together, as will Ferry and Beaussart, and Gies and Buckingham.

    Head coach Rich Gugat enters his 34th season with the Falcons. He is the second winningest active Division I tennis coach in the country with 713 career victories.
