Falcons Wrap Up Day Two at DU Invite

The Air Force men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of the Denver Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Falcons competed in singles against New Mexico and doubles against a mixed squad from Texas Tech and Nebraska. Junior Lance Wilhelm posted AFA's lone singles win, a thrilling 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over New Mexico's Ben Dunbar. Dunbar went 10-7 at the No. 2 spot for the Lobos last season. New Mexico won the other seven matches, but Falcon freshman Landon Kinsey took James Hignett to three-set before falling 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. Kinsey also played well in doubles, combining with junior Stephen Katrein to defeat Tom Blackwell and Drew Freeman of Nebraska, 9-7. Wilhelm and freshman Grant Taylor fell to Gonzalo Escobar and Vito Manzini of Texas Tech, 9-7, while sophomores Alex Grubbs and Ali Rizvi lost 8-6 to Tech's duo of Jeff Bryan and Gabriel Wanderly.
