Buck Reaches Finals at DU Invitational

Air Force senior Shannon Buck won two more singles matches Saturday at the Denver Invitational and will face DU's Adam Holmstrom in the finals on Sunday. Buck, ranked No. 28 in the country and the tournament's top seed, and Holmstrom, the second seed, will play at 9:30 a.m. at the Stapleton Pavilion on the DU campus.

Buck started the day with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Marek Dvorak of the University of Colorado in the quarterfinals, then defeated New Mexico's Graeme Kassautzki, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals.

The only other Falcon to win a singles match on Saturday was senior Trevor Johnson, who actually won two matches in the consolation bracket before defaulting in the semis with an injury. Johnson defeated Gerhard Posch of Nebraska, 7-6, 6-0, and Sion Wilkins of Minnesota, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

In doubles play, Buck and Johnson, the tournament's No. 3 seed, lost a 9-7 decision to CU's Dvorak and Jan Zelezny in the round of 16.
