Sept. 19, 2012
The Air Force men's tennis team opens its 2012-13 campaign this weekend at the University of Denver Invitational. Action begins on Friday, Sept. 21 at the Gates Tennis Center and will conclude on Sunday, Sept 23.
Head coach Dan Oosterhous enters his fourth season as the program's head coach. He led the Falcons to an 11-13 record last season, the most wins in one season since winning 11 in 2007. He enters the 2012-13 campaign with a 31-40 career mark.
The Falcons will send eight players to the tournament, led by three-time reigning team MVP senior Lance Wilhelm. Joining Air Force and Denver at the tournament are Nebraska and New Mexico. Here is the event format and schedule:
Team scoring will not be used. Each player will be assigned points per win according to their position in singles and doubles. The overall winner will be the player with the most points at the end of the weekend. For example, a singles win is worth 8 points at #1 down through 1 point at #8, and a doubles win is worth 4 points at #1 down through 1 point at #4.
