The Air Force men's tennis program honored the 2010-11 team at its annual banquet Thursday night. Sophomore Lance Wilhelm was named the team's Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season, while junior Mike Tope was named team captain for the 2011-12 campaign.

Wilhelm, from Gig Harbor, Wash., won 12 overall singles matches this season, including 10 at the No. 1 position. That number would have been higher but four of his six matches against MWC opponents resulted in a third-set super-tiebreak loss. Wilhelm tied for second on the team with 14 overall doubles wins and went 8-6 at the No. 1 spot with freshman Andy Jackson.

    Other award winners included:

Senior Taylor Soster - Rich Gugat "Attitude is Everything" Award (for character, leadership and attitude)
Senior Alex Beaussart - Iron Bolt Award (for the hardest worker in the weight room)
Freshman Steven Young - Most Improved Player
Freshman Andy Jackson - Lightning Bolt Award (for most dual match wins)

Air Force finished the season, the second under head coach Dan Oosterhous, with a 10-14 overall record.
