Falcons Host New Mexico in Regular Season Finale
April 23, 2010
The Air Force men's tennis team closes out its 2010 regular season on Saturday, April 24 against New Mexico at the Academy. The match will begin at 9 a.m. on the indoor tennis courts located inside the Cadet Gymnasium. The Falcons, 10-11 overall and 0-5 in the Mountain West Conference, are looking to snap a nine-match losing streak and capture their first regular-season league win since 2003. New Mexico, meanwhile, is 7-11 overall and 2-3 in league play. Three Air Force seniors will be honored prior to the match. Austin Francis, Brett Rodgers and James Tomlin have been vital assets to the Falcon program the past four years. Francis has won 39 singles matches and 35 doubles matches in his career, while Rodgers has won 40 singles matches and 68 doubles matches in his career, ranking him 18th on the school's career list for dual match doubles victories with 54, including 28 at the No. 1 position and 26 at the No. 2 spot. Tomlin has won 10 singles matches and 23 doubles matches in his four seasons at the Academy while battling injuries most of the last two seasons. Air Force will travel to Las Vegas next week for the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championships. The Falcons will enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face second-seed San Diego State in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 28.
