Mountain West Announces 2014 Men's Tennis Championship Bracket

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State enters the 2014 Mountain West Men’s Tennis Championship as the top seed. The Broncos are the defending Conference tournament champions and are currently ranked No. 25 nationally. Boise State went 25-4 on the season, including a perfect 5-0 in MW play.
The 2014 MW Men’s Tennis Championship will be held April 24-27 at the Sierra Sport & Racquet Club in Fresno, Calif. Quarterfinal action begins Thursday, April 24 at 10 a.m. PT, with the semifinals on Saturday, April 26 at 2 p.m. PT. The championship match will be played on Sunday, April 27 at 1 p.m. PT.
New Mexico, ranked No. 68, earned the No. 2 seed with an 18-7 overall record and a 4-2 mark in MW play. San Diego State is the No. 3 seed. The No. 75 Aztecs finished the regular season with a record of 11-11, including 3-1 in the Conference.
Nevada (18-4, 4-2) earned the No. 4 seed, while host Fresno State (13-9, 3-4) is the No. 5 seed. UNLV (13-10, 3-3), Air Force (13-11, 1-5) and Utah State (9-15, 0-7) complete the bracket as the No. 6, 7 and 8 seeds, respectively.
Competition begins on April 24 with two 10 a.m. PT matches. No. 1 Boise State faces No. 8 Utah State, while No. 4 Nevada opposes No. 5 Fresno State. The winner of those contests will meet in Saturday’s semifinal round. The afternoon session on April 24 features No. 3 San Diego State taking on No. 6 UNLV and No. 2 New Mexico meeting No. 7 Air Force. The San Diego State-UNLV and New Mexico-UNLV winners will meet in the other semifinal contest.
