Falcons Face Point Loma Prior to MWC Championships
The Air Force men's tennis team closes out its 2006 regular season next Tuesday, April 25 against Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, Calif. That match is in preparation for the Mountain west Conference Championships, which begin on Thursday, April 27 in San Diego.
Air Force (11-10, 0-6 MWC) is seeded seventh at the MWC Championships and will face No. 2-seed and 33rd-ranked TCU (14-9, 5-1) on April 27 at 9 a.m. (PT). TCU downed the Falcons, 6-1 in the MWC season finale on April 9 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Senior Shannon Buck is attempting to appear in his third NCAA Singles Championship this spring. The school's all-time leader in dual match winning percentage at 92.1 percent (82-7), Buck was ranked 15th in the country on January 10, the highest ranking ever for an Air Force player. Since then, Buck is 17-1 at the No. 1 position but has fallen out of the rankings all together. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranks the top 125 players each week.
The NCAA will release the 64-player draw for the 2006 Championships on Friday, May 5.
