The Air Force men’s tennis team wraps up its 2013-14 home schedule this weekend with a pair of Mountain West matches at the Academy. The Falcons will host Nevada on Friday, April 11 at 12:30 p.m., and league-newcomer Utah State on Sunday, April 13 at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played on the AFA outdoor courts, weather permitting.
Air Force’s five seniors, Alex Grubbs, Andy Jackson, Steven Young, Ali Rizvi and Alex Lineberry, will be honored by their teammates and coaches in a pre-match ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m., on Sunday.
Air Force enters the weekend with a 12-8 overall record and an 0-3 mark in the Mountain West after losing three matches in California last weekend. The falcons fell to Pacific (7-0), UC Davis (4-3) and Fresno State (7-0). Grubbs won the No. 4 singles match against UC Davis and paired with sophomore Jack McCullers to win the No. 1 doubles match against UC Davis and Fresno State. Air Force is looking for its first regular-season Mountain West victory since 2003.
Nevada comes to the Academy with a 14-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in league play, while Utah State is 9-11 and 0-3 entering its match at New Mexico on Friday.
