Falcons Blanked by Denver, 7-0


    The University of Denver men's tennis team improved to 7-4 on the season Friday with a 7-0 victory over Air Force Friday in Denver. The Falcons, who played without their No. 1 player Shannon Buck, had its four-match winning streak snapped and is 8-4 this season.

    In doubles, the 59th-ranked team of Adam Holmstrom and with Niklas Persson at the No. 1 position, defeated Keith Cronican and Ryan White 8-1. At No. 2 doubles, Nejc Smole and Steve Flaks posted an 8-3 win over Air Force's Greg Ferry and Robby Alexander. Viktor Zetterholm and Aljosa Nipic made it a clean sweep, outing Kenneth Cotter and Trevor Johnson 8-3.

    The Pioneers continued to roll in singles with No. 73 Holmstrom defeating Trevor Johnson 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 1 spot. At No. 2, Smole beat Alexander 6-2, 6-2 and Persson ousted Cronican 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Viktor Zetterholm, Flaks and Nipic also posted victories for the Pioneers.
