Falcons Host Two Matches on Saturday

    The Air Force men’s tennis team hosts a pair of matches Saturday, March 8 at the Academy’s Indoor Tennis Courts. The Falcons will play Weber State at 9 a.m., and CSU-Pueblo at 2 p.m. The matches are free and open to the public.

    Air Force enters the weekend with a 9-2 record after defeating The Citadel, 7-0, and Army, 4-2, last weekend in Charleston, S.C. The 9-2 record is the best start since beginning the 2009-10 campaign with a 10-2 record.

    Individually, sophomore Jack McCullers and freshman Lucas Fumagalli each posted a perfect 4-0 record last weekend. Senior Alex Grubbs and junior Grant Taylor each went 3-0 with Grubbs clinching the match against Army by rallying for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Alex Van Velzer at the No. 4 singles spot.

    The Falcons continue to dominate in doubles play this spring, winning at a 75 percent rate. Grubbs and McCullers are 8-2 at the No.2 spot, while Taylor and Fumagalli are 8-1 at the No. 3 position.
