Falcons Fall to Montana State, 5-2, in Home Opener


    The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Montana State Friday in the Falcons' home opener of the 2006 season. The Bobcats (2-2) won all three doubles matches and four of six singles contests to drop the Falcons to 1-2 this season.

    Air Force, playing without its top two players, seniors Shannon Buck and Trevor Johnson, won at the Nos. 2 and 3 singles spots. Junior Robby Alexander won the No. 2 match, defeating Marek Gebicki, 7-6, 6-2, while fellow junior Keith Cronican beat Tejeshwara Chigateri, 6-4, 7-6, at the No. 3 position.

    Sophomore Ken Cotter won the first set in the No. 6 singles match before falling to Jakob Dybala, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

    The Falcons are back on the court next Friday, Feb. 10 with a pair of home matches against Northern Arizona at 9 a.m., and South Dakota State at 12:30 p.m.
