Air Force Hosts Nebraska, Idaho State This Weekend
The Air Force men's tennis team plays its first home matches of the 2005 spring season this weekend, hosting the University of Nebraska on Friday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m., and Mountain Region rival Idaho State on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m.
The Falcons enter this weekend with a 4-0 dual match record after winning their first three matches of the spring two weeks ago in California. Air Force defeated Point Loma Nazarene (8-1), UC Riverside (5-2) and nationally ranked UC Irvine (4-3). The Falcons defeated Northern Colorado, 4-3, last fall. Seniors Tyler McClung and Chris Dong each won all three of his singles matches on the California trip. Dong pulled out an exciting come-from-behind three-set victory over Olof Sjolund, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5), at the No. 4 position to clinch AFA's win over UC Irvine. The Falcons' No. 1 player, Shannon Buck, is currently ranked 29th in the country for singles, and he and McClung comprise the nation's 20th-ranked doubles team.
