Falcon Tennis Team Extends Home Win Streak To 25

The Air Force Academy men's tennis team won its 25th consecutive home match Saturday, defeating Weber State University 7-0 at the Cadet Gymnasium.

The Falcons have not lost a match at home since Feb. 27, 1999 in a 4-3 loss to Oklahoma City. Air Force went 17-0 at home last season, and has won both home matches this year. The school record is 50 straight home victories, set from 1995-97.

Sophomore Eric Pittman produced the day's best finish at No. 1 singles, rallying from a 5-2 deficit in the third set to force a tiebreaker with Weber State's Tim Rowse. Rowse jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the tiebreak, but Pittman rattled off seven of the next eight points to win the tiebreak, 7-3, and the match. The five other singles matches were won by Air Force in straight sets.

Air Force will attempt to extend its home winning streak next Saturday, Jan. 27 against Montana State. The match begins at 9 a.m.
