Falcons Host Montana State in Spring Opener on Saturday

    The Air Force men's tennis team opens its 2011 spring schedule this Saturday, Jan. 22 with a home match against Montana State beginning at 2 p.m. The match will be played at AFA's Indoor Courts and is open to the public.

    The Falcons are coming off a 10-13 record last season, the first under head coach Dan Oosterhous, and had a successful 2010 fall season. Sophomore Lance Wilhelm, who was 13-9 at the No. 1 spot last season, continues at the top spot this spring. Freshman Andy Jackson is slated to play No. 2 singles on Saturday, followed by senior Taylor Soster and freshmen Alex Grubbs, Alex Lineberry and Steven Young.

    In doubles, Wilhelm and Jackson will form the No. 1 team. They went 4-2 in the fall and are currently ranked No. 7 in the Mountain Region. Soster and Grubbs. Who went 5-2 in the fall, will play at No. 2 and sophomores Sam Barnes and Stephen Katrein will be at No. 3.

    Air Force defeated Montana State, 5-2, last season in Bozeman, Mont.
